My Sanctuary

Another hard rattle of the walls,
Another frame shatters on the floor
As outside my carefully built castle
Is attacked like never before.
The foundation is sturdy,
Built by sweat and toil.
And every brick was carefully laid
To withstand pounding and turmoil.
Quickly we work together
To repair all the harm
Done to the outer walls
So as not to raise alarm.
Constantly damage is repaired,
And the walls are fortified
To protect from the pounding
Of the Devil and his followers outside.
Every day the pounding grows stronger
Every hour the walls shake
Every minute we're working harder
And we know we can't take a break.
For every little crack left untreated
Gets attacked harder with glee
Until the problem is bigger
And has to be repaired quickly.
It takes a lot of time
To repair such a small part
That without constant vigilance
Would have torn my sanctuary apart.
Though the walls shake and tremble
While the Devil outside screams,
He can never be successful
When the Lord finds me on my knees.
